Xoli is in Grade R (kindergarten) again this year and he is really thriving! We decided to have Xoli repeat Grade R because he struggled both academically and socially. However, we have seen a real change in Xoli this year. He has really come out of his shell and is doing very well in school. He loves building with blocks and playing with his buddies Koketso and Spiwe. Xoli lives with his mother and four brothers in subsidized housing. Like many of our students, Xoli’s dad is not a part of his life. Xoli’s mother is currently unemployed but is doing volunteer work. The family lives off of the children’s government grants, meaning that each person lives on less than a dollar a day. We are thrilled with the progress Xoli is making this year and are glad to have him at MCA.
