Abraham is Fanuel’s eight-year-old brother. He is quiet like his brother, but only because he is still getting used to his new surroundings. We can already see a quick wit behind his smile, and we think he will become the class comedian. He and his siblings attend a MCDC care center — Sun City Center in KwaMhlanga.
At MCA, we have been quite worried about Abraham and Fanuel because the boys always seemed to be extremely rundown, both mentally and physically, and frequently got sick. Since then we have learned a little bit more about these boys’ family situation. The two boys live with their siblings and sponsor parents in a room that’s so small that there is room for only one bed. The confining space is getting even tinier as the children get older.
Because of the lack of space, noise, and the frequent infections they get, Fanuel and Abraham are rarely able to fall asleep before 12:00 AM and then are up again by 4:30 AM. Abraham has been falling asleep regularly at school and never really recovers from being sick. Fortunately, we have learned that donors have raised about half of the funds necessary to build this deserving family a three-room house, which would enable the family to provide each child with a separate sleeping space. Please pray that the rest of the funds can be raised quickly and that the boys recover from their claustrophobic ordeal.
